Reasons I love Clemson!!

Okay, so I stole this idea, but I saw a post on Facebook from a May '10 Clemson Grad who had to list "100 Reasons to go to Clemson", Thanks Cara!!! It made me think you know many of you KNOW I love Clemson, few of you know why so here is my condensed version of why I love Clemson!! And maybe after you read these, it will bring up fond memories or bring you over to the ORANGE side!!

ENJOY

  1. Clemson was never an option for me, it was just assumed as it was in many of my cousins homes 2 things, a. you WOULD go to college and b. that college would be CLEMSON, so of COURSE, I had to love them for my blood truly runneth orange, cause my parent's did. It was in the genes.
  2. If you know much about me then you know I come a large family, although my dad was an only child, my mom has 1 brother and 4 sisters. I have 14 first cousins, I think. And we were little my Papa and Grandma would take us ALL on trips. Usually 2 times per year, one trip would be to Carowinds and one would be to the Bowl Game that Clemson in which Clemson was playing. I remember the caravan of vehicles leaving their circular driving at the wee hours of the morn. I remember our flags flying, our orange wardrobe, and our stamped $2 bills. Brings tears to my eyes now! Gosh, how did they do it. The two kids I have can send me over the moon, but my Grandparents loaded us ALL up and they LOVED every minute of it!! See some of my best memories are covered in ORANGE!!
  3. One of those bowl games was the Championship Game. Yes OUR championship and I was there and I remember it. I remember the excitement in the stadium, I remember the electricity. IT truly is one of my fondest memories. Again my whole family there and in ORANGE. These are the kind of memories I have of Clemson, FAMILY memories. Clemson is and has always been a member of our family. Even though I think it has been disowned by a few of the family. The majority of us feel this way.
  4. The Campus.. Have you ever been to Clemson, you can say what you want about the athletic teams and so on. But Clemson University has a beautiful campus, the Lake, Tillman Hall, Botanical Gardens, it truly is breathtaking. To pull up on those early September Saturday mornings, the night air still lifting and to overlook Death Valley and see the clouds rise over Tillman Hall is AMAZING!!!
  5. Clemson brought me closer to some of my best friends EVER!! I got to know my cousins better, we bounded over cold beer and football, occasionally sneaking past them in the morning. But it was at Clemson that I met some of the most AMAZING people in my life. Some of these people I had known my whole life, but it was at Clemson that I REALLY grew to know them!!!
  6. Speaking about Bonding... go to Clemson any day of the week, go ANYWHERE with a Clemson t-shirt on you will meet people and it will be like you have known them all your life. I have lived in a few states and traveled a few places since my graduation. There has NEVER been a time when I was wearing something Clemson that another Clemson fan say hello or the universal "Go Tigers". I was even in Jamaica pregnant with Willie, trip from Hell but that is a blog for a different day, some dude sees my Tiger Paw on my hat and get the universal "Go Tigers". How truly Sweet It is.
  7. After my freshman year in college, things were difficult for me. Some reasons were of my own doing and others were beyond my control. Nonetheless, at the point where I decided that I had truly made a mistake by accepting my scholarship to Erskine and I was going to somehow get a degree from Clemson. It was a struggle for me and although I had a good time, a REALLY good time, my degree has the Clemson University Seal. I have interviewed for positions up and down the East Coast, the first thing that was said to me in an interview was "WOW, you went to Clemson". It's a good thing my degree does not state that my minor was Bourbon and Beer, but hey I graduated!!
  8. I met my husband at Clemson, and no matter how annoying he can be he did give me my sweet babies. And if had not be for CU we would not have had a Willie or a Maddie. During my time at Clemson, I had some great romances, which will NOT be discussed here! ;p
  9. The athletics, heck we may not always be the best, but we bring some excitement to field, court, or track!! The 25 most exciting minutes in football, if you don't like the running down the hill it is only cause you are jealous your team ain't got a hill to run down! SORRY hedges won't do!!!
  10. All these reasons and so many more, days like today on Bowman Field, wee morning hours at TD's and Tigertown. Peppino's Pizza, Nutty Professor, the Genoa Club(Telling my age on that one). Everything Clemson is a part of who I am, it an invisible family sitting on our t-shirts and ballcap. We are ORANGE!!

BOYS EAT!!!

Okay, Boys and Girls I went to see "She's out of my league" last week and it was HILARIOUS!! I literally almost peed my pants at one point. TOO FUNNY. And it is true in the beginning the chicka does appear to be "out of his league", but by the end of the movie they start to make him look cuter. That's besides the point, here is my thing when I was in college boys were boy/men sizes. NOW boys and men are TOO skinny!! EAT!!!! In my opinion, laying next to a guy who is a buck o' five, feeling like I might break him, would be a MOOD KILLER!!! So my take on things is this, for me I would much rather have a "ROCK" than a "STICK"!!!

Tragedies at the Target!

So last evening after work I needed to go pick up some things at my favorite super store in Anderson South Carolina. I normally would not have taken both the kids, but due to some of my husbands new job description I am going to have to get used to having the kids by myself more often. ANY who, I took the kids to this store alone. If you have met my son you know he is a HANDFUL, very active, very funny, very cute, but nonetheless a HANDFUL. So all through the store people were laughing at him, playing with him, and pretty much encouraging the behavior that was making me pull my hair out. So all the while my sweet Maddie was just rolling her eyes and on more than one occasion asked why we had Willie. It was pretty funny actually, but she was being GREAT and he was being good too just all over the place. Short story long, we get to the register put our stuff on the conveyor belt, Willie is still entertaining the masses and getting a very positive response. Then all of the sudden he FLIPS out of the cart and falls right on his head onto the concrete floor. He is no longer laughing, but instead is screaming. Here is the part that bothers me the most, NO ONE helps me. The manager or whom I perceived as the manager only asked me if Willie was okay. Did NOT offer to help with my bags or anything! She did NOTHING to make it easier for me to console my son who at this point was screaming and crying. I didn't expect anything but the chance to be a mom, consoling mom to my baby, but instead felt rushed and hurried to get out of every one's way. Seriously, what have we all become. I can honestly say that if Andrew or myself had been in line behind someone in the same scenario we would have paid for their stuff and helped her to the car, not that I was expecting that, I merely wanted someone to tear the check out of my checkbook, so hold my wallet so I could pull my license out with my one free hand, to offer to push the cart out to my car while I consoled my son. NOTHING, is this really what it has become?

UGGH MORNING!!

Okay, so I have a couple things going on this am! I am trying to cut out coffee. Why I am doing this I am not sure, but I think it has something to do with my trying to live healthier life! DUMB MOVE! I think unhealthy and eating what I like might be a better choice.
SECONDLY, The problem with have a butt that is two sizes larger than your waist makes wearing jeans difficult. I have pulled them up a million times today, why I am wearing a belt. But the waist is too big and it feels like it is falling, when in reality the pants are just resting on my buttocks!
SO, on the Friday Morn here is too big butts and healthy lifestyles. AND we can't forget Chicka Bday Bash Tomorrow! WOO HOO!!
